AUEB in a nutshell

Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), located in downtown Athens, is the premier Economics and Business University in Greece. It offers programs in Informatics, Statistics, Economics, International Relations, Management, Accounting, Marketing.
AUEB's Research Center, established in 1983, provides the institutional framework which facilitates and supports the research carried out by faculty members, in the fields of economics, management and computing.
The Department of Informatics was established in 1984. It is at the forefront of research in areas such as computer networks, AI, information management, and theoretical computing. 20 out of its currently 30 members were academic professors at European and American universities.

PRUDENT | AUEB People

The AUEB group is an expert in networking and in applied AI techniques (Federated, Continual, Reinforcement Learning) and on Explainable AI. The group has experience in mobile computing, in terms of (1) design and implementation of algorithms for running large AI models on resource-constrained devices; (2) design and implementation of mobile and web applications in different contexts. In PRUDENT, the group contributes prior expertise and experience from its participation in the recently completed H2020 NUDGE project, in which, different types of nudges on promoting energy-saving electricity consumption behaviors were implemented and evaluated.

Role in the Project: The AUEB group participates mainly in Green nudges landscape analysis and Testing innovative nudging practices. The group is responsible for the implementation through innovative ICT tools of green nudges to enhance the performance of nudging practices, creating the interface between the decided nudge and end-users i.e. farmers and foresters.

Meet the people of AUEB behind the PRUDENT Project.

Iordanis Koutsopoulos

Prof. Iordanis Koutsopoulos

Scientific Coordinator

The leader of the AUEB team is Dr. Iordanis Koutsopoulos, Professor at the Department of Informatics of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He has received 3 best-paper awards for papers in IEEE and ACM conferences or workshops. He has co-authored more than 200 research papers which have attracted 6.300 citations, forming an h-index of 36. He has been PI for several European projects and for national projects. His research interests are in the broad area of network systems control and optimization and applied machine learning with applications in different verticals such as health, energy, security and agriculture (thanks to PRUDENT). He currently coordinates the European project PRE-ACT that uses explainable AI and modern AI techniques to predict side effects of radiotherapy for breast cancer patients.
